SPLIT STUDIO is handmade in Chicago, IL by Juliana Lefler
In 2020, I was messing around and made a wallet out of beads - and then made a bag from the beads for a friend, and then another, then as birthday gifts, then more wallets and more bags and then smaller little card holders that could go in the bags. People started asking about them in the most varied of places - when pulling out my wallet at the gas station or bodega, servers at dinner, people on the street. Thrilled by the interest, I got to work on creating a cohesive collection, which in turn has become a brand, and my answer to “do you sell them??” became “coming soon”, became SPLIT STUDIO.
SPLIT STUDIO is an ode to duality. To the balance beam of life.
It’s the everyday minutiae and the years flying by. Day jobs and daydreams. Id and ego. Truth and fiction. Childlike sprit and adult responsibility. Physicality and mindfulness. Hitting the gym, then hitting the bar. Having been broken and having put yourself back together. It’s holding space for hard realities while retaining hope and finding light. It’s keeping all the plates spinning.
We go in circles, we expand and retract. We say things and mean others. We’re different selves with different people at different times. We’re both/and.
You might just say we’re SPLIT.
